DREAM BIG OR ENJOY THE SAME OLD SCENERY
How many of you have an adventure list? Some might have it as part of their bucket list. It is places where you want to travel to and find adventure within as you explore. It is where you think you will experience something extraordinary. You might have seen one of these destinations in photos and instantly thought – OH MY, I want to go there!
MOST OF US HAVE AMAZING AREAS TO EXPLORE NEARBY.
We may actively enjoy nearby areas and think they are great. Usually though, they are not the same spots that we drool over. There is something about the change of scenery or the change of elevation that draws us. There are the lush colors of the wilderness that differ from our area and lures our attention. We view other areas with an unexplainable fascination.
IS IT THE MYSTERY OF THE UNKNOWN THAT DRAWS US?
Mysterious attraction of the unknown or not, we hope to get out and explore these destinations! We have areas that call to us like spirits in the wind; shouting out to us, COME HERE! Have you heard them? I wouldn’t be surprised if you have. For those of us that love the outdoors, these dream adventures are powerful.
We read about the places on our adventure list. We save photographs of them. We seek internet information about the best way to explore them. We want to find a way to truly experience these destinations. Drive by visits and stops at trailheads are not our thing. We like to explore into the unknown to truly see the beauty within. We like to be mesmerized by the sheer size of an area and what a small part we are within it. Some call it perspective. I like to refer to it as rightsizing. Yes, I said rightsizing. No, I am not referring to downsizing an organization…I am referring to downsizing yourself and your problems. It is about showing yourself how to make due and even thrive when you are just a small part of something. It is when you adventure out into the wild with little supplies, yet live…truly live. It is about learning to live more fully by enjoying what is important in basic form. Fine, it is perspective…but with a big impact internally.
